Day 1: Long Summer Days

August 24, 2010

So the idea that it rains nine months out of the year in Seattle is a generally accepted one.  Having a career tangentially related to the Seattle Film Industry, I’ve learned that there are cities with statistically larger amounts of rain–measured in inches. What should really be expressed in the nine month idea is that it’s grey.  Cloudy.  Dull.  As if it’s just dim.  I am however in the what has been described to me as the summer months.  It’s still rather chilly by my summer standards, but I really enjoy the long summer days where the sun not only manages to break through the low hanging clouds a little more frequently, but it stays out long past dinner, long past any little one’s bed time, long enough to seem mischievous beckoning those typically responsible souls to stay out in the back yard just a little while longer.  There feels to be just a little more time to relax this time of year, time for perhaps one more cocktail.
