Day 3: The Fish Ladder

August 26, 2010

Tucked away at the Chittenden Locks in Ballard is a Fish Ladder that helps move the Salmon swimming between the various WA bodies of water.  The fun part is peering through the windows that were installed slightly below water level so that you can see the Salmon work their way against the current with all their will and power.   If you have ever had one of those days where you feel like you are forcing your way against the world, you will find this beautiful.  There are even little alcoves where the fish can take a breather–a gentle reminder that every now and then everything needs a time out.
